Over the years, Buckets has run many sports related events in an attempt to raise money to fight hunger. It all started with a "celebrity" basketball game at Oregon High School in 1995. Among the name players was Tracy Webster, former Wisconsin Badger All-Big 10 basketball guard. The event that year included a raffle of approximately twenty sports memorabilia items.

Buckets has also run three-on-three basketball tournaments, basketball clinics, basketball shooting contests, sports memorabilia dinner/auctions, silent and live auctions at the Kohl Center at the University of Wisconsin and "legends" parties wherein sports fans were given the opportunity to spend an evening partying with sports figures including Ron Dayne, Wisconsin's Heisman trophy winner of 1999, Jerry Kramer and John Brockington, former Green Bay Packer stars, and the Heisman Heroes night wherein four former Heisman trophy winners spend five hours with sports fans.
