Lombardi's Legacy - 2005
On March 3, 2005, Buckets for Hunger, Incorporated, played host to some of the biggest names in Green Bay Packers history. The event was held at the Monona Terrace Convention Center and included guests of honor Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jerry Kramer, Fuzzy Thurston, Max McGee, Willie Wood and John Brockington. In addition, former Packer Network radio broadcaster, Jim Irwin, was in attendance. Alliant Energy and MassMutual Financial Group/Strategic Wealth Management Group were event sponsors.

A sell-out crowd of 300 attendees paid $200 per plate in order to enjoy these gridiron gods retell their wonderfully entertaining stories of yesteryear. Paul Hornung opened the evening with a presentation that could rival the best of Jerry Seinfeld. He had the audience in stitches from laughter and he made the live auction aspect of the evening another whole comedy routine. On just seven items he helped bring in over $22000 in bids.
Scott Lewis owner of Madison's Dining and Diversion (in addition to owning Cameron Management Incorporated) and his wife, Misty, paid $4000 for a football signed by the entire starting offensive team for the 1962 Packers. Dr. Louis Bernhardt and his wife, Sandy, battled with the Lewis' for ownership of a Bart Starr throwback jersey with his personalized signature and a photo with him. The Bernhardt's generously paid $7000 for the item. These are the two largest bids in the history of Buckets for Hunger. All told, the evening brought in over $73,000 in proceeds to help fight hunger. It more than doubled the Buckets record for money raised at an auction/dinner.

Buckets' Board of Directors has already approved a $15000 grant to Wisconsin Community Action Program to pay for the entire trucking costs that will result in an estimated 250,000 pounds of food being donated to food pantries or agencies in at least sixteen different locations throughout Wisconsin.
