A Night at the Ballpark 2008
Over 200 people attended this rowdy event with Brewers and Braves players in attendance. The crowd was thoroughly entertained as former Packer great, Jerry Kramer, served as the emcee of the night's festivities. He served up the questions and four members of the Milwaukee Brewers 1982 World Series team answered them. "Stormin Gorman" Thomas, "Jimbo" Gantner, Jerry Augustine and Hall of Fame member, Paul Molitor provided story after story to the listeners. These guys were, obviously great friends as they razzed and ribbed each other about various escapades during that great season.
In addition, two members of the 1957 Milwaukee Braves World Series Champions, Johnny Logan and Felix Mantilla, shared some laughs and some great stories with the audience. As teammates of Henry Aaron, Eddie Mathews and Warren Spahn, they had some wonderful memories also.
The live auction was led by Bruce Neviaser of Continuum Investments Partners purchasing a silk Brewers signed by all of the players present plus Robin Yount and Rollie Fingers, both Hall of Fame members. The winning bid was $7,000. Paul Olsen bought a pair of autographed game-worn shoes of former Badger great and current Cleveland Browns player Joe Thomas. Mr. Thomas added four tickets to a Cleveland Browns game and sideline passes also. Ron Krantz of UW Provisions, Wayne Harris of Harris-Glowac and Jeff Stein were also very generous bidders that night. All told, the evening's total return was in excess of $35,000 of proceeds over expenses.
Alliant Energy, Incorporated served as one of the lead corporate sponsors along with Continuum Investment Partners and MassMutual Financial Group. It was the third straight year these three corporations have teamed up to help Buckets for Hunger with this event.
As always, the BIG 1070am and WIBA1310am were the media sponsors and Fan4Ever donated all of the framing and matting for over fifty items.
